Almost there...
We're supposed to show up at 6:30 tomorrow morning, and the surgery is scheduled for 9. Although we've been told we'll have a baby by 9:30, they'll still have to stitch me up and all that. So, I don't know when Paul will get around to letting you all know who we welcomed into the world! I might want him to spend some time with the little one and me ;)

Don't tell anyone...
But I've been sitting upright for at least half an hour! I feel entitled, since I lost 3+ lbs of fluid this week.

It's a good thing LittleA shut down the baby poll on me, because here's a spoiler for y'all: I'm scheduled to go under the knife Tuesday. When they give you a less than 10% chance of delivering the normal way, well, a 15-minute delivery becomes very attractive. I'm a little bit disappointed, but then again, it's nice to know when the baby's coming!

Thanks for all the well-wishes and advice! Please continue to keep us in your prayers. My parents are planning to come down in time to welcome baby and me home, and Paul's mom will be down sometime after that, so we'll definitely have some on-site help in the early days. And more people than I can even recall have told me to call them if we need anything. We are greatly blessed!

Rest
Lenise is now officially on bedrest. We spent the half of the day at the hospital today while they monitored her blood pressure. Apparently she's having regular contractions now which she doen't feel. No dilation action yet. They scheduled another visit for Friday but said we should come right in if pretty much anything happens. I'd be surprised if we made it through to next week before birth.

Ouch!
Socializing can be painful. Good food and good company do not mitigate severe edema. I'm going to have to be a hermit until this baby comes (and probably for some time thereafter!)

Still here
I'm just not interacting with the world wide web too much. Trying to spend my work time working, and my home time lying on my side for optimum circulation, since I'm still very sore and puffy. And I'm READY for this silly baby to come! Never thought I'd say that!

Reading a fascinating book called Albion's Seed by David Hackett Fisher. Discovered that Cotton Mather only had one grandmother. Mom was from her first marriage, and his dad was from her second. The thing that puzzles me is the book keeps referring to them as step-siblings, despite showing that they had THE SAME mother. That makes them half-siblings in MY book.

Gotta go now. Hope to have momentous news soon!

Laid up (or down?)
Well, I whined enough to my midwife about my puffy, sore legs that she decided I needed more rest- but that first I needed a bunch of tests in Burlington. So she gave me a note for my employer that says I'm only allowed to work 4 hours a day and packed me off to the hospital-based main clinic. There they hooked me up to a fetal heartbeat monitor and gave me a little Jeopardy-ringer which I was instructed to activate when I felt the baby move. My back was hurting a little by the end, but all appeared to be well with the child. At the end, they handed me the elastic strap which had held the monitor to my belly and told me to bring it with me in the future so I wouldn't be charged if they needed to do the same test again. Umm, OK! Then they sent me to the lab for collection of some bodily fluids. I was instructed to wait at home until they decided whether they needed to see me again this week. I argued unsuccessfully to be called at work (I'm sure I could have insisted, but I'm just compliant by nature).

By the time I left, it was nearly 11:30 and I was parched and famished. I headed up the road to McDonald's, assuming that since the one near work accepted plastic, they all would. Thankfully, I surmised that this was not the case BEFORE placing my order, and the helpful staff told me that the Arby's DID take credit cards, so I thanked them and headed for the land of curly fries. I survived long enough to place my order, carry the food to my table, and utter a short prayer of great thankfulness. Well, it was actually silent, so I guess it was not technically uttered.

Anyway, once I got home I had to call my boss and tell her I was at death's door. "Oh, and now that you've gone and thrown me a gigantic party and showered me with gifts, I won't be in any more." OK, it's not quite that bad. Anyway, being the kind and understanding boss she is, she sent me the document I had requested and instructed me to take it easy. Wouldn't you know I had a deadline yesterday. Anyway, I got my document somewhat improved and sent it on to another co-worker to finish and distribute. Then my doc's office called to tell me that yet another lab had come out normal.

As far as I can tell, noone has taken to hating me yet, but I feel like such a slacker! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go eat the dinner Paul has made and then lie on my left side for the rest of the evening.
