Sharing the Wealth
Daniel got some birthday money from Grandma and Grandpa B, and we took it to the zoo. He had wanted a puffin (and found one in the perplexing array of plush creatures with astonishing speed), but Isaac and John talked him into buying a whole round of very large lollypops. Let's see if Isaac reciprocates...

Zoo Trip, Edition 6 (?)
We are definitely getting our money's worth from our zoo membership this year. Today was perfect zoo weather- it didn't approach 80 today, and it was overcast all day, yet we didn't get more than a hint of a sprinkle, except for some very light drizzle on the trip out. What may be even better- sparse attendance! I was wondering whether the possibility of rain would keep folks away, or whether the cool temperature would bring them in, and I guess the threat of rain won out! Anyway, we had a very nice time, and Jay didn't complain about the fact that we didn't ride the bus OR go to the playground. He did ask to ride the bus, several times, in fact, but I had planned it so that we didn't need to pack everything up and board the bus. I've gotten our outing packing down to a science, putting both kids' necessities into our smaller bag along with my wallet and keys, so it actually might not have been that bad. It's just a bit of a hassle to get Isaac out and fold up the stroller, etc etc.

Catching Up, Here 'N' There
So I meant to post this some time ago, but other things tend to get in the way! I mentioned, I believe, Jay's "Clean up! Find Dirt!" comment when we were weeding. Well, we were pulling dead clematis branches off the old oil tank stand that's right next to the house, and Jay modified his mantra to "Clean up! Clean up, guys! Find house!" It made me laugh, anyway.
Yesterday, the kids and I met their uncle at the zoo. I decided to go ahead and buy the family plus plan, which entitles us to a year's worth of visits with any guest, so if you'd like to go, let us know. It also entitles us to free admissions at other zoos and aquariums here, there, and everywhere, so we'll have to keep that in mind when we're traveling!
Job hunts continue. I had a guy say he would call me last week about a job, but I didn't end up hearing from him. Paul found a few jobs to apply to as well (locally), so I'm still hoping that it will work out for me to be home with the kids. Then we can go to the zoo any day we want ;)
